"The tailored solution we are supplying centers around our Synergy 3 platform which manages onboard third-party systems or devices to mine, analyze, and cross-reference data such as GPS, telematics, video, and signaling." Jürgen Fuchs, Director Strategic Projects, Synectics
Global surveillance business Synectics has won a contract to supply networked video recording solutions for a fleet of new metro trains that will serve a major European city.
The fleet is being introduced to replace and supplement existing vehicles on one of Europe's busiest, most rapidly expanding metro systems between 2018 and 2021. Each train will feature the latest evolution of Synectics' robust on-vehicle recording system with Synergy 3 at its core.
Synectics’ Synergy 3 solution facilitates networked recording, storage, and superior retention of high-quality footage from third-party IP cameras. The flexible, open-architecture platform features built-in diagnostics to quickly identify and alert operators of any potential issues for improved interior surveillance.
Specified by Siemens, on behalf of the metro system operator which Synectics has supported for over a decade, the surveillance specialist had to prove its solution matched an exacting brief in terms of form, fit, and function.
Jürgen Fuchs, Director Strategic Projects commented: “Rail is entering an era of insight, analysis, and response that will genuinely transform services for both customers and operators.
“The tailored solution we are supplying centers around our Synergy 3 platform which manages onboard third-party systems or devices to mine, analyze, and cross-reference data such as GPS, telematics, video, and signaling.
“The open architecture design allows it to scale in line with a customer’s objectives enabling new technology to be integrated at a time best suited to their specific requirements. This provides transport operators with real-time, 360-degree oversight of operations over the life of the trains to deliver improved passenger experience with smoother, safer, less crowded journeys.
“This solution is a vital part of the network infrastructure for one of the busiest lines in Europe, so I am delighted that our system will flex in line with emerging operational needs.”
With over 30 years’ experience in on-vehicle, infrastructure, and public space protection, Synectics is ideally suited to delivering end-to-end, converged solutions that connect the entire transport landscape. Its systems currently protect over three billion passenger journeys worldwide each year.
