Front End/Web Software Developer & Team Lead

As the Team Lead, you will be responsible for leading and mentoring a team of three front-end software developers and a UI/UX designer, as well as directly delivering high-quality software solutions.

You will lead the development of our Angular-based front end, evolving our product suite into a single, consistent product experience which delights our customers.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the development of the core User Interface, including new user-facing features.
• Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs.
• Build reusable code and libraries for future use.
• Optimise our applications for accessibility, speed and reliability.
• Develop for both browser and mobile solutions.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and debugging to ensure web front-end solutions meet quality standards.

Principal Accountabilities:

Responsibilities will include leading the development of web-based front end as well as the UI/UX designs that produce and drive visual and GUI elements of our applications. You will work with our Product managers and developers and bridge the gap between graphical design and technical implementation.

• Lead, manage, and mentor a team of software developers, providing guidance, support, and feedback as needed.
  • Your team will consist of front-end developers and a UI/UX designer.
• Provide technical leadership to the development team, ensuring that all code is maintainable, scalable, and secure.
• Develop software in line with software development standards and procedures.
• Work with stakeholders to ensure understanding of specifications.
• Work in an agile team to translate functional requirements into technical solutions.
• Write software of a high standard to deploy into cloud-based and closed networks, meeting our project and product requirements.
• Communicate new product and continuous improvement ideas/opportunities to the team.

Technical skills

• Excellent experience in Agile Software Development Methodologies.
• Proven experience building modern web applications using modern JavaScript frameworks such as Angular.
• Core web programming knowledge (JavaScript, TypeScript, Node, HTML, CSS).
• Experienced working with design systems and component libraries.
• Experience with Unit and Integration testing.
• Experience with continuous integration and continuous deployment.

Qualifications and experience:

• Technical degree (or equivalent industry experience) – graduate or graduate calibre
• Five or more years of experience developing applications and UIs, though proven experience is more important than longevity.
• At least two years in leading or mentoring a team of software developers, including experience with agile methodologies.
• Desirable: A track record of community participation in your field of expertise (meet-ups, talks, podcasts, etc.).
